On average, American women use 12 personal care products per day which exposes them to up to 126 unique chemical ingredients on a daily basis. Skin is not a solid barrier – it's a penetrable organ that can  easily absorb chemicals, especially with repeat exposure, many of the harmful ingredients found in cosmetics have been linked to cancer, infertility, and hormonal dysfunction.

Why doesn't Emani use sunscreen chemicals? Some behave like estrogens and have been shown to make some breast cancer cells proliferate. Titanium dioxide and zinc oxide are good alternatives for sun blocking.

Emani strongly believes in beauty without cruelty. We do not use any animal derived ingredients in any of our cosmetic products. All of Emani makeup brushes are entirely free of animal hairs. Emani never tests on animals and Emani is extremely proud to be Peta-Certified.

Gluten is a special type of protein that is commonly found in rye, wheat, and barley. In the last 5 years, gluten free products demand grew over 50%.

WHY PARABEN FREE?

Parabens are a group of cosmetics preservatives, including butylparaben, propylparaben, methylparaben, and ethylparaben. Some parabens are classified as endocrine disruptors because they mimic estrogen in the body. Higher estrogen exposures are linked to higher risk of breast cancer. Journal of Steroid Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (Jan 2002) published t is estimated that more than 90% of all cosmetic products contain some form of paraben. Research showed evidence of a weak estrogen effect on cells in a way that could be problematic for binding to receptor sites that may cause proliferation of MCF-7 breast cancer cells.

KEY INGREDIENTS

Emani chooses to use certified organic ingredients from plant or flower extracts in our formulations, we combined these extracts with key ingredients such as mica, titanium dioxide and iron oxides. Mica is a transparent mineral which is mined from the earth. It can be opalescent and sparkling or completely matte. It is often treated with iron oxides to yield brilliant color effects. Iron Oxides are natural oxides of iron that is combined with oxygen, varying in color from red to brown, black to orange or yellow, depending on the degree of water added. Titanium Dioxide is an inert earth mineral used as a thickening, whitening, lubricating, and sunscreen ingredient in cosmetics. It protects skin from UVA and UVB radiation and is considered to have no risk of skin irritation.
