What kind of sunscreen protection does your makeup offer?
Due to the high concentration of titanium dioxide in our foundations, it serves as a natural sunscreen with an equivalent protection of SPF 20. We recommend that you always use an additional sunscreen before applying your makeup.
Have any of your products ever been tested on animals?
Emani products have never been and will never be tested on animals. Emani is certified by PETA.
Does your makeup work well in hot or humid weather? What about cold weather?
Some of our most loyal clients are from the hot & humid States like Florida, Louisiana, Kentucky, Georgia, Mississippi, Texas and Puerto Rico. It also works great in dry heat weather like Nevada, Arizona and California. Emani has been tested in the most extreme climate; ask some of our cold climate fans and makeup artists from the north east - New York and New Jersey, Canada (Ontario, Quebec) and Finland.
How does Emani makeup works on acne or problematic skin?
Acne skin is ultra sensitive to certain ingredients commonly use in a lot of makeup. Condition of skin can be worsened by using the wrong kind of makeup, heavy chemicals and un-natural ingredients can cause further irritation, pore clogging and break outs. Emani Foundation bases composed of soothing and non-comedongenic ingredients that are ideal for problematic skin.
Are Emani foundations suitable for older or aging skin?
Yes. We use soft reflective and light diffusing ingredients. They obscure fine lines and wrinkles by filling into the fine creases while reflecting off light and giving a healthy glow to the skin. If you have drier skin, try Emani Liquid Foundation, it contains organic oils that are absolutely healthy for the skin. It also gives skin a soft, hydrated, dewy finish.
Are the powders drying?
Makeup powders and foundations have a bad name because they mostly contain talc. Our Pressed Foundation and Crushed Foundation bases are talc-free. Talc is an inexpensive ingredient and widely used in most cosmetics, no wonder it is why it’s the first ingredient listed in most makeup powders. Our clients with dry skin love Emani Liquid Foundation.
How is Emani makeup different from other brands?
Emani uses fewer but high performance ingredients. Our foundations are free of harsh chemicals, dyes and parabens (preservatives), these ingredients can negatively affect your skin, especially if you have sensitive or acne prone skin. Emani foundations create a breathable barrier for your skin and protecting it from the environment, pollution, UVA and UVB rays while giving your skin a beautiful and natural finish.
What brushes do I need to apply foundation?
We suggest that you apply our Liquid Foundation with our V7 flat foundation brush, apply Emani Pressed Foundation or Crushed Foundation with V8 or sponge (sponge will give heavier coverage).
Is Emani makeup hard to apply?
Only the Crushed Foundation may pose a challenge to some, simply tap a small amount of powder in the lid of your container, swirl it up with the brush and sweep it on your face. Some of our artists love using the V7 (flat foundation) brush, it works wonder and less mess. However, Emani Crushed Foundation is the purest, composed of only 3 ingredients; it’s preferred by estheticians and our clients with very sensitive or problematic skin.
Do your foundation bases have that unnatural “glowing” sheen like the other "minerals" brands do?
Absolutely not! A few popular mineral cosmetic lines mix a chemical called bismuth oxychloride into their foundations. Bismuth oxychloride leaves the products with a highly silky look and feel. Unfortunately, this chemical leaves a strange, undesirable "glowing" look to the skin.
Do I need to use a moisturizer with the powders?
It’s good practice to use moisturizer in the morning and night, keeping your skin nourished and balanced. Your moisturizer will help to aid the adhesion of the foundations and create a longer and lasting wear. Try Emani Hydrating Serum & Foundation Serum, it not only preps your skin for the most flawless application but it also loaded with extracts and antioxidants to nourish the skin.
Can I use Emani makeup after laser, microdermabrasion or peels?
Emani foundations can be applied immediately after a microdermabrasion or a peel. One of the important things to remember is that it is essential for newly exposed skin to be protected from the sun. Post-laser and treated skin is very sensitive, and it is best to use fewer ingredients in post process. Consult with your dermatologist or esthetician.
What coloring agents are used in your makeup?
Our colors mostly come from iron oxides, titanium dioxide and mica. We never use FD&C (petroleum-derived) dyes. FD&C dyes are not allowed for use around the eye area. Some red dyes (such as Red #40) are extremely comedongenic, break-outs in the cheek area could be related to the use of such dyes.
Are your foundations heavy?
Emani foundations offer superior weightless coverage with a natural look and feel that is extremely light. Most clients using Emani for the first time is amazed how light and airy their skin feels. For spot coverage and under eye dark circles use Emani Concealer & Setting Powder.
